July 2008

[09/07/08] Antrim Scouts have arranged a sponsored car wash at Crumlin fire station on Saturday 19 July from 12pm-3pm. All proceeds go towards their 2008 Jamboree. The cost is £3 per car.

[26/06/08] Work has started on the upgrade of Antrim train and bus station. Press Release

[20/06/08] HEALTH AND SAFETY WARNING. There has been a serious pollution incident in the Six Mile Water River. Members of the public are advised not to enter or ingest the water and they should not touch or eat the dead fish.

[28/04/08] The re-opening of the Crumlin Glen link path has been postponed.

[25/04/08] Tesco are holding an information evening on Thursday 01 May to discuss the building of their new store in Crumlin. It will be held in the bowling pavilion beside the community centre.

[25/04/08] Senior citizens can now register for the 'Good Morning Antrim' scheme - a free telephone alert service. Clients receive a call at nominated times and if they do not respond after several attempts a nominated emergency contact will check on their well-bring. The project also requires volunteers. [07/04/08] Ulster Farm By-Products have pleaded guilty to two offences of polluting the Glenavy river with effluent discharge, which took place in January and February 2007. They were fined £5,000 plus costs.

[07/04/08] A public meeting has been arranged to discuss the closure of the post office in Parkhall Shoppng Centre. The meeting will take place in the Parkhall Community Centre on Monday 14 April 2008 at 7pm.

[02/04/08] Three post offices in the South Antrim area have been earmarked for closure. They are the branches at Parkhall Shopping Centre in Antrim, the branch at Crosskeys, Toomebridge and the branch at Loughbeg Road in Moneyglass. - Press Release
