SDLP MLA BURNS: WELCOMES COMMUNITY FUND
 

SDLP Social Development Spokesperson Thomas Burns has welcomed a £2million investment in the Local Community Fund announced by Minister Margaret Ritchie.

Mr Burns said, “I very much welcome this £2million fund for community development in Northern Ireland’s most deprived areas. I hope that this initiative by Minister Margaret Ritchie, along with the Department’s Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy will go someway in helping deprived communities.

“Community funding is essential for encouraging people to get involved in activities to promote their area and to create pride of place. By investing in these communities, people will be given the opportunity to develop their skills and foster good community spirit to move away from deprivation.”
