MLA BURNS:
PRAISE FOR CRUMLIN PRINCIPAL AWARDED MBE
SDLP South Antrim MLA Thomas Burns has heaped praise
on local headmistress Catherine Wegwermer, Principal
of St Josephs Primary School in Crumlin, who was
awarded an MBE in the birthday honours list.
Mr Burns commented: “This award is thoroughly
deserved and I offer my warmest congratulations to
all at the school. Mrs Wegwermer and her staff do a
magnificent job at St Josephs. It is a cornerstone
of the local community and it is a great place for
our children to learn and play.
“She is a very talented and highly motivated lady.
I’m sure the parents of the pupils at the school
will agree that with her skills and talents she is a
considerable asset to the Crumlin educational
establishment.”
He added: “It is good to see local people getting
recognition for the hard work they do, day in, day
out, in service of the community. People like
Catherine Wegwermer make a real difference to the
lives of the people they serve, and they often make
a lot of personal sacrifices along the way. That
should be acknowledged and celebrated.”
